Bengaluru (BLR) — 150 km · 3 hours · recommended for everyone

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is the best choice for most devotees, whether domestic or international. Bengaluru connects to all major Indian cities and dozens of international destinations — and from the airport, Puttaparthi is a straight 3-hour drive north on NH44.

For north Indian travellers particularly: even though Hyderabad might look geographically closer on a map, the road from Hyderabad takes 6 to 8 hours. Flying to Bengaluru and driving 3 hours is significantly faster than flying to Hyderabad and driving.

Getting from BLR to the ashram

• Cab (fastest, most comfortable) — Ola, Uber and pre-booked outstation cabs run directly from the airport to the ashram gate. Fixed fare. Journey: 3 hours.
• KSRTC bus from the airport — KSRTC operates Volvo bus services from Kempegowda Airport's bus bay directly toward Puttaparthi / Anantapur district. No need to go into the city. Check the KSRTC counter at the airport arrivals area for the next departure.
• Bus via Majestic — If no direct airport bus suits your timing, a cab to Bengaluru Majestic (Kempegowda Bus Terminal, about 45 min from the airport) connects to frequent KSRTC and APSRTC departures for Puttaparthi.

Hyderabad (HYD) — ~260 km · 6 to 8 hours

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is the second option, primarily useful for travellers from Telangana and nearby regions. However, the road from Hyderabad to Puttaparthi passes through Kurnool and takes 6 to 8 hours — significantly longer than the Bengaluru route. For most north and east Indian travellers, flying to Bengaluru is faster overall.

A pre-booked taxi from HYD airport is the most practical option. APSRTC buses connect Hyderabad (MGBS terminal) to Puttaparthi but require travel from the airport into the city first.

Chennai (MAA) — ~320 km · 5 to 6 hours

Chennai International Airport (MAA) is the natural entry point from Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. APSRTC and TNSTC buses connect Chennai to Puttaparthi (journey roughly 6 hours). Alternatively, take a train from Chennai to Dharmavaram Junction (5–6 hours) and a taxi for the final 40 km.

Arriving at the ashram

Navigate to Ganesh Gate, Puttaparthi — the main visitor entrance. Cabs drop you at the gate. The Accommodation Office (N-9 Block) is a short walk from the gate.
